STOP the madness
Anger can be considered a family of emotions, with varying degrees of intensity, leading to various responses. Annoyance leads to frustration, exasperation morphs into vengefulness, bitterness explodes into rage.
Can you stop it? Maybe. But what I’m going to share with you now is not a way to stop it. I’m sharing a tool to deal with it. A tool called STOP.
Rethinking
If you define rethinking as thinking the same thoughts over and over again (and again, and again, and…you get it) — without questioning those thoughts, without considering other thoughts (similar and dissimilar), and with zero awareness that you’re doing this, then you’re limiting self-growth, self-understanding, and self-improvement. You’re not learning anything, and most importantly — you’re not unlearning anything.
Resilience
What got me started on this topic was several emails that I received from different people and organizations related to wellness to which I subscribe. Suddenly, resilience was a hot topic. Probably because we have been dealing with the pandemic for a year now. Most articles addressed the need for and benefits of resilience regarding emotional health and well-being.
